WORKING PAPERS
Clark-Hamel, S. D. Competing for Stakeholder Relationships: The Entanglement of Competition, Cooperation, and Value Creation. (Job Market Paper. Target: Academy of Management Review)
This paper develops a theory of “competing for stakeholder relationships,” arguing that firms often compete by creating value with stakeholders whose relationships they share with rivals. It shows how competition, cooperation, and value creation become entangled, and how access to stakeholder resources can emerge as an outcome of relational competition rather than simply its object.
Parmar, B. L. & Clark-Hamel, S. D. Stakeholder Relationships. (Target: Academy of Management Review)
This paper develops a process theory of stakeholder relationships, drawing on interdependence theory to explain how patterns of interaction, dependence, and mutual adjustment shape relationships over time.
